Room to Read In January 2007 we met Dinesh Shrestha who is the country director for Room to Read in Nepal. Room to Read is an aid organisation focusing on establishing libraries for children in less developed countries. In connection with this work they also provide some scholarships for children to attend school. You can find out more about Room to Read on their website - http://www.roomtoread.org. Room to Read is a relatively new organisation and started very small, similar to the Mitrataa Foundation. It was great to be able to talk to someone who has encountered almost all the same problems as we have in providing aid work in Nepal! Dinesh has also been very helpful in terms of giving advice on how to manage the scholarship program and he had some great suggestions for contacts for some of our other projects as well. Room to Read will also be working with the school in Phulbari to properly establish their library and ensure it runs smoothly and successfully. This is a fantastic initiative as we have found that many schools in Nepal have libraries but keep them locked because they are not sure how to best manage them for the children.
