Frequently Asked Questions

sponsorship - change a life
  • How will you communicate with me?

We will communicate with you mainly by email, including sending you reports, photos and updates. This saves on postage costs. If you would prefer to receive hard copies of these things, please let us know and we will certainly post them to you. We will send you letters from your sponsored child by mail.

  • How will I know when subsequent years' scholarship money is due?

Scholarship money will be due by 31st March each year as this is the beginning of the school year. We will send you a reminder in early March of each year.

  • How can I pay my scholarship money?

You can either send us a cheque (made payable to the Mitrataa Foundation) or you can deposit the money directly into the Foundation's bank account. If you do deposit the money directly, please make sure you note your name with the deposit and let us know once it has been deposited so we can send you a receipt.

  • Can I send my sponsored girl letters?

Of course you can. The girls love hearing from you! It helps them to practice their English as well. It can be particularly rewarding if you have children of your own as they can correspond with an overseas pen friend, learn about another country and culture and develop a keen appreciation for just how fortunate they are.

You can send letters care of us at The Mitrataa Foundation, PO Box 1765, North Sydney, NSW 2060, AUSTRALIA, and we will forward them on to Nepal for you.

  • Can I send her presents?

You can send the children small keepsakes as they love receiving them. But please do not send anything more as not all sponsors are comfortable sending gifts, and you don't want to spoil your child. The other children can get jealous and the girls may start to expect to receive presents!
